BBC interview MDC
The interview, with Richard, was recorded for the religious affairs slot on BBC local radio stations to be broadcast on Sunday the 14th of May. If we get more details about timings we will post them. After Sunday you may be able to find the programmes via the BBC iPlayer. Richard will also be interviewed live on BBC Radio London between 08:00 and 09:00 on Sunday the 14th.

Male circumcision and HIV prevention: rational and irrational decisions and behaviors
Reports on the BBC World Service (15/02/2017) and Africa Health describe a study published in The Lancet concerning the initiative to educate religious leaders to encourage the uptake of male circumcision as an HIV prevention measure. If you have questions about the HIV prevention benefits attributed to male circumcision by some trial studies in Africa then the presentation given by Michel Garenne from the Pasteur Institute in the video below is a good place to start looking for answers.
Children’s Rights should be respected
The majority of cultures that cut the genitals of children cut the genitals of both genders. The excuses vary from culture to culture and from situation to situation. In the article below, from the “i” newspaper and reported elsewhere, the justification is of a religious nature.
It is likely that the only way to bring an end to the practice of cutting or modifying the genitals of children will be when it is understood that all children have the right to grow up free from the physical and psychological abuse that is the consequence of such adult-lead interventions. All children boys, girls and intersex should be allowed to grow up without non-therapeutic invasive treatment so that they have the ability to make their own choices when they reach the age of majority.
